David L. Nott was born in Barberton, Ohio, and graduated from Kent State University in 1988, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in history and political science, in which he was the top student in both majors. In 1992, he earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. After working on his own for several years, he spent nearly 25 years as an attorney for the Summit County Executive. While working for the County Executive, he gave legal advice to all departments under the Executive’s authority on issues in various substance areas, including employment, environmental, civil rights, water, zoning law and on issues arising the county charter and ordinances. He reviewed and negotiated contracts for every department under the Executive. He also drafted numerous pieces of legislation for submission to the County Council, served as legal advisor to four Charter Review Commissions and drafted several charter amendments approved by Summit County voters.

He then worked for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office where he acted as an attorney for the Child Support Office, preparing case providing representation in hearings before Domestic Relations Magistrates. He then served as Law Director for the City of Streetsboro, where he advised the Mayor and the departments under his authority on a range of legal issues, including employment, economic development, property and drafted legislation for presentation to the City Council, reviewed and drafted contracts for the mayor’s departments.

 

David’s broad experience of over 30 years with different areas of law serves him well in his practice, which consists of business law, transactions, litigation, and other matters.

 

At home, David enjoys spending time with his wife and walking his dog.
