Shawn A. Wilson is a business and trial attorney whose practice focuses on construction, insurance, business, real estate, commercial, and employment-related litigation. With more than twenty-five years of legal experience, Shawn represents businesses, property owners, contractors, professionals, and individuals in complex disputes throughout Ohio.

Known for her practical and strategic approach to problem-solving, Shawn helps clients navigate disputes both in and out of the courtroom. She regularly advises clients on risk management, contract disputes, construction claims, real estate matters, insurance coverage issues, business conflicts, and employment-related litigation. While she is an experienced trial attorney, Shawn understands that successful representation often means finding efficient and cost-effective solutions before litigation becomes necessary.

 

Throughout her career, Shawn has represented a diverse range of clients, including school districts, construction companies, manufacturers, trucking companies, property owners, and closely held businesses. She has extensive experience litigating matters in Ohio trial courts and appellate courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

 

Professional Background

Shawn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, with honors, from Ohio Northern University. She later received her Master of Public Administration from the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University while serving as a graduate and research assistant. Shawn earned her Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University College of Law and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1998.

 

She began her legal career representing professionals and businesses in errors and omissions and directors and officers liability litigation. She later spent several years defending insurance and catastrophic injury claims, including wrongful death matters. Shawn also served as Complex Commercial Claims Litigation Counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where she managed and evaluated high-exposure commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining Arnold Gruber, Ltd., she practiced business, real estate, and commercial litigation with Gertsburg Licata.

Today, Shawn brings the unique perspective of both outside counsel and in-house litigation counsel, allowing her to evaluate legal issues through both a legal and business lens.

Community Involvement

As a long-time resident of Strongsville, Ohio, Shawn has remained actively involved in her community for more than two decades. She has served on numerous school and parent committees, helped organize community fundraisers, and participated in projects supporting local schools, parks, and recreational programs.

Shawn currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Primary Purpose Center, a nonprofit organization that provides supportive recovery housing and services to men and women in recovery throughout Lorain County. She is passionate about community service, mentorship, and helping individuals and organizations overcome challenges and build stronger futures.
